Stay safe when you travel with NordVPN
Using NordVPN will protect you from many cyberattacks while you are browsing on your phone and computer. (even from home!). This is extremely important when you are traveling and connecting to random open networks and we are checking our email, bank accounts, and credit cards. It’s the fastest VPN service today, and they are running impressive promos. Sign up with my link and get 68% off!
These days. we are constantly logged in to several websites and apps on our computers and phones. We are sending traffic several times every minute, whether that’s from our social networks, email, or instant messages. We send links, pictures, text, voice notes, everything.
This gets even worse when we are traveling: we check our email, bank accounts, exchange rates on our credit cards, maps, taxi, carpooling, etc. And we might do all of that over public or open networks, such as the hotels or Starbucks’ wifi.
The problem is that you have no control over how that data/traffic is going to be sent, and who/what can be listening to it. There have been hundreds of cases of someone hacking into the hotel’s wifi to spy on guests, stealing data, and even the FBI tried to warn many times about how big of a security risk this can be.
I’ve even suffered attacks myself, from getting my email stolen and receiving thousands of spam mail since then, to getting random AirDrops from strangers with threats or memes. See here:

Luckily there’s a simple, cheap, and very efficient solution I’ve been using for a couple of years. It works really seamlessly both on my laptop, phone, and even my router!
If security and privacy are important, you need a VPN.
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, routes all of your internet activity through a secure, encrypted connection, preventing others from seeing what you’re doing online and where you’re doing it. Basically, a VPN provides an extra layer of security and privacy for all of your online activities.
Why I chose NordVPN
There is one particular aspect that makes NordVPN unique compared to other providers. NordVPN allows you to send your internet traffic through not just one but two VPN servers. If you are a VPN user that truly wants to surf anonymously, this can be highly valuable. Even if you probably do not need this every day, it can be appreciated if you want to exchange extra-sensitive information.
NordVPN is not only the fastest provider, with hundreds of server options, but it also gives you access to the Tor anonymization network. This makes it even harder to trace your connection and makes it possible to access hidden websites, though at greatly reduced speeds. Undoubtedly there is no coincidence that NordVPN is often labeled the safest VPN provider in the world.
I use it all the time, even at home.
You simply download the app on your computer and phone, and after you log in, you can simply choose “connect” (which will select the fastest server) or select a server manually (in case you want some other country like US or somewhere else).
The app provides presets to quickly switch between countries/servers if you are downloading, browsing or gaming.
How does Dark Web Monitoring work?
A nice addition that comes with the service is the Dark Web Monitor. They will scan the dark web for leaks related to your email, and will notify you so that you can “clear” the problem by changing your passwords on those websites.
On the phone the interface looks similar. There’s a section called “security progress”, where you can set up auto-connect, CyberSec, and also the Dark Web Monitor. It also has an statistics pane where you can track how many hours you’ve been protected, which protocol you are using and also your IP address.
The NordVPN service allows you to connect to 5000+ servers in 62+ countries. It secures your Internet data with military-grade encryption, ensures your web activity remains private and helps bypass geographic content restrictions online. NordVPN has a 30-days money-back guarantee. This means you can try it for free as you can disrupt the subscription and get your money back if you are not satisfied.
If you want a 68% discount, you can sign-up with my link at no extra cost to you (30 days free trial). I’m curious to know about your experience with the service, so feel free to reach out to me at anytime on Instagram or email.
Bonus: NordVPN directly on your router
My Internet Service Provider at home (Tele2) has a nasty policy where they observe all my traffic and give that data to advertisers. This is really annoying since every time someone at my home connects to the wifi and searches for something on Google, we get popups with those products on all the other devices! Even Alexa and Apple TV/YouTube on the TV.
Hence, I decided to buy a router that supported a VPN client directly on it. Luckily, NordVPN has a list of compatible routers you can get. You can order directly from them, but also get it from your local store and configure it following their guide; they even have YouTube video guides.
I’ve gotten an Asus RT-AC86U which is a cheap gaming router that has this support and works like a charm! Here’s a screen capture with NordVPN server set up directly on my router. This means that you are already protected from the source, so you don’t need to turn on the VPN on your computer or phone app. Much easier!

Top reasons to use a VPN

- Unblock social media sites while you are in other countries

Bonus #2: NordPass
Never lose a password again! This is a new service I’m trying out. A state-of-the-art password manager by the same company. They are running an insane promotion where you can get 70% off, and pay as little as €1/month.
