I’m Booked On The FIRST SAS A350 Flight From Copenhagen To Chicago! (2020)

I wanted to share some very exciting news! I’m booked on the first SAS A350 flight scheduled on January 28th from Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH) to Chicago (ORD).

How I ended up booking? I was digging into some A350 news when I saw this press release from SAS where they announced the first route and schedule for the first flight with the A350.

Just out of curiosity, I went into flysas.se and searched for the flight, and saw that the route was already updated, showing the A350. To my surprise, it was possible to book the flight using my EuroBonus points:

Unfortunately, there was no space open in Business Class, but they did have space in SAS Plus (Premium Economy), and paying about 90.000 points + €60 on taxes round trip, with a direct return flight from Chicago (ORD) to Stockholm (ARN) on Business Class, operated with an A330.

Without thinking too much, I decided to hop on this adventure, going there on a Tuesday (January 28th) and coming back on Thursday (January 30th).

During the booking process, I selected 2 seats, and I used one of my American Express Fly 2 for 1 vouchers that come with the American Express Elite or Premium card. This took the total amount (for the two tickets) to 90.000 points and 1522 SEK (about €130), which means 45.000 points + €65 per adult, which is a great deal!

I had the chance to be in Chicago back in 2016, and it is a city I love. Maybe because it was my first time in the United States. I’m looking forward to trying the A350 and spending two days in this vibrant city!
