How To Get Free Spotify with Plutus (Plutus Spotify Perk 2023)
Wondering how to use the Plutus Spotify Perk? Here’s a step-by-step guide for you.
I’ve covered Plutus many times in the blog, as one of the best crypto debit card alternatives of 2023. With the Plutus card, you can get one or more Perks, which include reimbursement of Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple One, or many other subscriptions. They have over 30+ partners and will reimburse up to a certain amount per month.
I am subscribed to the Plutus Everyday package, which includes two Plutus Perks. I pay €4.99 every month, but then I use it to get reimbursed for both Spotify and Netflix to my Plutus Card. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how I use it.
Plutus Spotify Perk (Step by Step guide)
Overall, the process to get free Spotify with Plutus is quite simple. Overall, the steps are:
- Sign-up for Plutus.
- Activate and top-up the Plutus Card
- Select Spotify as your Plutus Perk
- Pay for Spotify using your Plutus Card
- Wait for the rewards to post to your account
- Top up your Plutus card using your PLU rewards
Now, check below the instructions in detail.
1. Sign-up For Plutus
Sign-up for the Plutus card. To order it, you’ll need to make a top-up for at least €20. You can get €10 for free when you sign-up using our Plutus invitation link.
2. Activate and top up the Plutus card
After you order the Plutus card, wait for it to arrive, top it up with €20, and activate the card using the security code (CVV) in the app. Once you’ve done this, you can use the debit card for purchases in any physical or online shop.
3. Select Spotify as your Plutus Perk
Open your Plutus app on your phone, or log in to your Plutus Dashboard. Go to Perks. You will see two panes: Current Month and Next Month. This is in case you want to switch perks from month to month (which is cool to have this flexibility).
Once you go to Current Month, select the Spotify Perk and make sure it is active.
4. Pay for Spotify using your Plutus card
This is the trickiest part because Spotify is very strict with payment methods.
Log in to your Spotify Account and go to Account Overview -> Subscriptions -> Payment -> Update
On the following screen, don’t choose Credit Card. If you do, you will see the following error:
Your payment method and country don’t match. To continue, change your account’s location or use a different payment method.Spotify
This is because Spotify is extremely strict and requires that the country issuing the credit card and your Spotify country must match. In my case, the Plutus card is issued in the UK, while my country is Sweden, so it doesn’t work.
To solve this issue, choose Paypal as your payment method, and set up your Plutus card as your payment method in the Paypal account. Then it will work.
When the transaction is made, on your Plutus account you will see the Spotify transaction via Paypal
5. Wait for the PLU rewards to Post to your Account
In the Plutus Dashboard, under Pluton > Rewards, you will see the pending transactions and the amount of rewards you will receive. It takes about 28 days for the PLU rewards to post to your account (read here), and the Plutus team said that it is working on them to make them available sooner.
Here’s a look at my account, and you’ll see a PAYPAL SPOTIFY transaction for 149 SEK (€13.33). Plutus fully reimburses a total of €10 EUR, and the remaining amount (€3.33) is considered a standard transaction where I get 3% PLU back. That’s why you see two different reward transactions pending. In the screenshot above, you’ll see how my Netflix rewards have already been posted, and I can use those PLU rewards to top up my card.
6. Top up your Plutus Card using your
After 28 days, you get those PLU available on your Plutus account, which you can change to Euros or use to top up your Plutus card (in Euros). Once you log in to your Dashboard, go to the Pluton tab
Click on sell, and select the amount of PLU you want to use to top up your card. You are limited by the number of available PLU, and you cannot top up more than €30 daily. Follow the steps and confirm the transaction. In my case, I will change 3.15 PLU, which is €27.41.
Once you confirm, the transaction takes a bit to finish, between 1 hour and 1 day, depending on the exchange speed. You can see the pending orders under Withdrawals in your statement.
7. Done! you are ready to use your card
That’s it! Now you have your money back ready to use in your Plutus Card. Note that this money is now in Euro (€), and it will not fluctuate like the PLU valuation. You can use that money to buy stuff and even pay for Spotify next month, and so on.
Plutus Spotify Perk: Wrap up
In this guide, I showed how I use Plutus and take advantage of the Plutus Spotify Perk to get reimbursed for my free Spotify Premium subscription. I also use it for Netflix. The trick with Spotify is to use Paypal as the payment method to bypass the issuing country limitation. Another trick could be to use the Curve card aggregator, but some accounts reported having the same errors when paying with Curve.
