Best Crypto.com Card Alternatives In Europe (2023)

After I wrote about how my experience with Crypto.com went in decline last year (nasty fees and removing perks), I got asked to do some research and find the best Crypto.com card alternatives that work in Europe. In this post we summarize some of the options available out there. What all those have in common is that, luckily, it doesn’t take 2 months until your card is delivered, ha!

Why Ditch The Crypto.com Card?

I had a great time initially as an early user of the Crypto.com Visa card. I shared my experience here. However, those days are long gone, and there are plenty of reasons why that card is not worth it anymore. These are my ones:

  • No more perks. The new cards stopped reimbursing Spotify and Netflix, even if you met the CRO staking requirements.
  • Top-up fees. They increased the fees to top-up your card from both credit cards and fiat.
  • High foreign transaction fees. They increased the foreign transaction fees outside Europe.
  • CRO is losing value: The CRO token is performing poorly, and most of the Crypto.com visa cards are linked to CRO.
  • High staking requirements: To get almost any benefit, you must stake large amounts of CRO (more than €400).
  • Delivery times: I waited for ten weeks until my card was delivered! Plutus, for example, delivers the card in 5 working days.
  • Customer service: It takes forever to get in touch with them and resolve any issue.
  • Benefits. Over the last 18 months, they increasingly cut down perks and benefits.
