I first wrote about AwardFares back in 2019 when the service launched. It has been extremely useful to search for available rewards, particularly if you have flexibility in terms of dates and destination. IMHO, it’s the perfect holiday planner if you have some points to burn!

Some of the features have been disabled during 2020 and 2021 (due to airline and FFQTV program restrictions), but now everything is up and running again, and they even announced new features!

EuroBonus Star Alliance Search Is Finally Back!

Searching Star Alliance award availability for SAS EuroBonus is finally back. This should hopefully make it much easier to find seats across different frequent flyer programs (SAS EuroBonus, United MileagePlus, Avianca LifeMiles, and Air Canada Aeroplan).

There are still two major limitations though. Booking Singapore Airlines is still not available (apparently due to technical issues). The same applies when trying to book awards by telephone. Also, First Class availability for EuroBonus is still not visible online, so for that, you still need to estimate the availability using other frequent flyer programs.

New Feature: Filter By Program

They recently released a highly requested feature. It is now possible to filter and search by a specific Frequent Flyer Program. On the search page, you can choose the programs you’d like to search in the top-left corner, making results faster and more accurate!

For those of you who are wondering how it works, I put together this quick tutorial and walkthrough of the premium features, and what you could use it for, before subscribing. The tool does not forward you to your Frequent Flyer program website, but it does query seat availability across multiple FFQTV programs.
