Aerolineas Argentinas Is Finally Flying Long Haul from Aeroparque (With A330)
I’m actually excited about this news: Aerolineas Argentinas is finally flying long haul from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport. Starting on August 7th, 2023, our national airline in Argentina will operate three weekly flights to New York JFK using the Airbus A330. The flights will depart from AEP at 11:55 PM on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and return from JFK at 3:25 PM on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
UPDATE
Long-haul flights from Aeroparque AEP to Miami MIA and New York JFK got postponed until further notice, you can read more about it here (I was booked on one of them!). Note that domestic operations with the A330 from AEP remain untouched.
The schedule doesn’t seem very convenient, I don’t typically like super late flights, but on the other hand, it is fantastic news for people flying from and to the city. Check out my recent flight with Aerolineas from Ezeiza to Miami here (day flight).

This is a big deal for Aerolineas Argentinas and everyone in Argentina. In Buenos Aires, there are two main airports: Aeroparque is located in the heart of Buenos Aires, making it much more convenient for passengers than Ezeiza International Airport, which is located further away from the city. Aeroparque is also subject to stricter noise restrictions than Ezeiza, which has limited the types of aircraft that can operate from the airport.

Recent changes to the runway at Aeroparque have enabled Aerolineas Argentinas to operate its widebody A330 fleet from the airport (which is what we all wondered).
The addition of long-haul flights from Aeroparque is a boost for the Argentine economy. The airline expects to carry an additional 100,000 passengers on the new routes each year, creating new jobs in the tourism and aviation industries. Aeroparque (AEP), one of the main hubs in Buenos Aires, is great for connections during the day. These new flights will provide passengers with more options for travel to and from Buenos Aires and help boost the Argentine economy.
